Newborn photography is a specialist skill. Your baby’s safety should ALWAYS come first. Ask your photographer what training they’ve had when it comes to posing and handling newborns. Are they trained in newborn safety? Do they know how to safely support a baby’s head and neck during posing? Have they taken courses in safe wrapping techniques?

How Much Experience Do They Have?
There’s no substitute for experience – especially when working with tiny, unpredictable humans! Find out how long the photographer has been working with newborns. Experience often means they can spot the signs of a sleepy spell coming on or know how to soothe a baby who just needs a little extra cuddling, instead of another feed when they aren’t hungry.

My cosy studio in Hull is purpose-built for newborn photography, with everything you need already here. It means you can show up to me and not have to tidy your home to make room for a photographer and their equipment. I have a big selection of props and blankets in my studio which you wouldn’t have access to if I were mobile. You only need to bring baby and their essentials – I take care of the rest!
What’s the Overall Experience Like?
Newbron photography is about more than just the final photos – it’s about the whole experience. Questions to ask yourself include, do you feel comfortable talking to your photographer? You’re going to be chatting to them for a couple of hours during your photoshoot, so it’s important that you get on! Do they take the time to answer your questions?
